Krissy Kingsley Watts Education Center

Education/Recreation Center

Education Center — The Education Center is the hub of activities at the Children’s Home. On the main floor it has a library, computer lab, art classroom, band classroom, and chapel. The lower level has a fitness center, game room, party room, clothing store, and theater. The lower level is called the Recreation Center.

Computer Lab

Computer Lab — Computers are used to complete homework and 4-H projects. All computer use by the children is supervised by an aduilt and potentially dangerous sites are blocked.

Art Room

Ken Hausner Art Room — The Art Room is used to complete school, 4-H, and personal art projects. Art seminars are periodically offered to the children.

Class Room

Class Room — The two open classrooms have many uses. Homework, staff in-service training, and seminars are some of the many uses.

Ed Center

Tutors — Tutors are available to the children during the school year. A majority of the children’s grades increase after moving to the Children’s Home.

Band Room

Band Room — Even children who have never played an instrument learn how to play an instrument and are a part of the Children’s Home Band. The band usually gives between 4 and 6 performances per year.

Fitness Center

Lee Paden Fitness Center — The Game Room was supposed to be double the size, but the Children’s Home’s Youth Council voted to reduce the size of the Game Room and incorporate a fitness center into the Recreation Center.

Game Room

Grand Lodge Game Room — Upon a successful school day and the completion of homework, the children have access to the Grand Lodge Game Room.

Party Room

Party Room — Birthday and holiday parties are held in the Party Room.

Theatre

Star Movie Theater — The theater was the first segment of the Recreation Center to be built. Fundraising started in 2008, during an economic recession. The membership and other donors pitched in enough to pay for the theater. The Nebraska Masonic Home donated seating that used to be in their chapel. Children look forward to Friday Night Movies.
